Summer Glow | Glowing Make-up For Summer

There's nothing worse than feeling you look grey and grimey in the summer when everyone else is glowing around you. So this year I'm going to make a conscious effort to get glowing skin.

This post is basically the base products I currently use when I want to look radiant. Alongside using these products, from here onwards I'm going to ensure that I drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day and make sure that my diet is packed full of healthy vitamins and nutrients.

  • I start by applying La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (purchased from Boots). I use this to get rid of my red blemished cheeks. It has over time made a difference and is quite good value for money and I bought it after Zoella said how good it was on her youtube channel
  • Then I buff in my MAC Face and Body Foundation in C1 (from Debenhams) using my Real Techniques Stippling Brush. While the foundation is not high coverage, it has a really nice dewy finish and the brush allows it to blend well into my skin

  • I then take my High Beam by Benefit (purchased from Boots) and dot onto my cheek and brow bones. I just dab this in with my finger and it really illuminates these areas

  • I apply to dots of L'oreal Paris Lumi Magique underneath my eyes and also blend it in using my finger. This product is good as not only does it cover the dark circles under your eyes, it also lifts and highlights the area!
  • I finish with the only powder product I use in this look which is my Icy Eye Palette by Pixi which I received as a christmas present. I use the white eyeshadow on the brush it came with and just blend it on top of the High Beam on my brow bone. I absolutely love this shadow as it really glows and lasts a long time

Fujifilm Instax Mini 8

One of my new years resolutions this year is to go out more and do more exciting things, I haven't actually applied this properly quite yet but I plan to put into action as soon as my exams are over (bring on June 12th!!). So I thought that it would be nice to capture these moments and I find that whilst it's nice to have pictures on my phone, it's never quite the same as having it as hard copy and so I made an investment...

I'd seen numerous different polaroid cameras online but the design of this one really caught my eye and I couldn't resist. It's the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 and I purchased mine on amazon with 4 sets of 10 shots for about £80.

When you take a picture the photo prints out white and over about 5 minutes it develops into the picture and I love watching it slowly process! The print size is adorable too.

It's taken me a while take get the hang of using it as obviously it is very different to a normal camera and I still need some practice but it was definitely worth the investment!!

Lip Balm Review | Reve de Miel

It's the winter and that means, quite inevitably, that I will get chapped lips. After years of relying on a small tin of vaseline that I always lost before I finished, I decided it was time to venture out into the vast retail of lip balm. As I never found that vaseline actually cured my dry lips, more so it soothed them for the first couple of minutes of appliance, I felt I should dive deeper into my purse. And here is a review on my first new lip balm.

I purchased this from Marks & Spencers for £9.50. It may sound slightly pricey for only 15g of product but little goes a long way! It claims to nourish AND repair your lips and it's true to its word. With only a couple of applications of Reve de Miel, my lips were a lot less dry (almost cured!!) and the product felt soothing on. Unlike other balms I have tried, this is quite a thick consistency. I am pleased to say that this isn't a lip balm that tastes bad and leave your lips with a strange tingling sensation and to top it off, it smells delicious!

A great buy for just under £10, definitely worth investing in!!!

Mascara Review | Soap and Glory Thick & Fast

I recently invested in a new foundation and felt the need for a new mascara to go with it. While I did consider buying a high end brand, I settled on the drug store purchase of Soap and Glory Thick & Fast for £10.50.

The box description reads "hello, dolly! for dramatic, doll-like lashes, apply the first sweep of thick & fast high-definition, collagen coat mascara with the v-groove side for volume, then roll the brush - from roots to tips - for length and curl."

"High definition collagen coat formula with super-defining 7-sided fan flare-180* brush"
"It coats! It combs! It curls!"
"Plus special long-stretch polymers and nonflake all-day wear technology"

I think this mascara does give very good lash definition, however if too many coats are applied the lashes do tend to go spindly. It gives a great amount of volume but possibly too much for bottom lashes so I tend to use my other mascara for them. Very good packaging as Soap and Glory products always do!

I would recommend this product to anyone who wants eye lashes with a fanned out effect!

Fashion | The Midi Skirt

Recently I have been scouting the high street and charity shops for a midi skirt and while there are numerous online, I just can't seem to find one. However I did come across these 3 lovelies while on asos and I'm thinking about investing in one.

One day I decided that I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl. I wear colors that I really like, I wear makeup that makes me feel pretty, and it really helps. It doesn’t have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see. Your body is your temple, it’s your home, and you must decorate it"

October Favourites

October Favourites

Once again I seem to be late on posting my monthly favourites but I've been so busy with school and work!

First of all I have been loving my Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation; it gives great coverage, it has an excellent consistency and has lasted me ages!

My go to clothing item this month has to be my grey baggy jumper my sister bought from a charity shop last year. It's really warm and cosy and I wear it just with tights so it's an outfit within itself. I also have been loving my new purple check skirt from topshop, however I wish I'd bought it in a size 6 as opposed to an 8 because the waistline on it is generous.

Footwear wise, at any opportunity I've had, I've been wearing these black heeled boots with gold embellishments  I purchased them from Primark and at £20 you can't go wrong. (However after a day of full out shopping in Cabot Circus, I was in need of a major foot massage!!!)

I also have been loving these triangle droplet earrings from Asos. My ears normally react with cheap metal but these were absolutely fine and I find they can be worn for any occasion.

Last month I was dying to find any spare time I could so I could finish the current book I was reading: Divergent by Veronica Roth. My boyfriend had leant it to me and he'd bigged it up quite a lot so it had high expectations and it most certainly lived up to them. It's an action novel (the same kind of theme as Hunger Games) with a slight romance throughout, definitely worth a read.

Somehow, I've managed to get music onto my terrible phone (an ancient blackberry) and the first album I downloaded had to be AM - Arctic Monkeys, every single song on there is great and it follows up their high reputation from previous albums.
